External strategies to control your eating and weight is a broken strategy. It may give you short term success, but will lead to weight gain in time and it will occupy a lot of your mental load...it’s extremely consuming mentally and emotionally.
When you stop dieting, you aren’t free..you are just out of control and so you formed an incorrect belief that if you aren’t following something external, you will end up stacking on the weight and staying there.
The goal isn’t about trying to be in control. The goal is to start trusting yourself around food.
